Jotform vs. Google Forms: which one should you use?

Google Forms is free with a Google account and takes up to 500,000 responses per form, with quizzes and Google Sheets built in. Jotform does much more with a form, including payments through 40+ gateways, 300+ widgets, PDFs, and e-signatures, but its free Starter plan stops at 5 forms and 100 submissions a month.

We make trulyform, a third option, so we’re not neutral. Every Jotform and Google Forms figure below comes from their own pricing and help pages, checked on the date shown and linked, and each section says when one of them is the better pick.

Should you choose Jotform or Google Forms?

When Jotform is the better choice

Jotform is the better choice when the form has to do work: take money, produce documents, or meet compliance rules. Choose it if you need:

  • Payments through 40+ gateways, on every plan
  • PDFs and e-signatures with PDF Editor and Jotform Sign
  • HIPAA compliance with a BAA, from Gold
  • 150+ integrations, including Salesforce, Mailchimp, and Zapier

The tradeoff is limits: 5 forms and 100 submissions a month on Starter, and 1,000 on Bronze for $39.

When Google Forms is the better choice

Google Forms is the better choice when you want free and simple. Choose it if you need:

  • Free forms with up to 500,000 responses each
  • Quizzes with answer keys and automatic grading
  • Google Sheets and Workspace, with Apps Script for automation

The tradeoffs: no payments or signatures built in, branching through sections only, and respondents must sign in to Google to upload files.

When trulyform is worth a look

trulyform is for forms customers see, such as lead forms, intake, and quote requests, when you want them to look like your business. Look at it if you want:

  • One question at a time on every form, with your theme, colors, and typeface
  • Unlimited forms and teammates on every plan, Free included
  • Logic on any answer and calculations, on Free
  • Google Sheets, HubSpot, Slack, and more on every plan
  • Pro at $12/mo for 2,000 responses

What trulyform doesn’t do: payments, PDFs, e-signatures, HIPAA, or quizzes with answer keys. If you need those, choose Jotform or Google Forms.
