Typeform vs. Tally: which form builder fits you?

Typeform and Tally are both good, but they’re built differently. Typeform made one-question-at-a-time forms popular and has a deep set of paid features: payments, Salesforce, roles, and drop-off reports. Tally gives away a lot for free, including unlimited submissions within fair use, payments, and Zapier, in an editor that works like a text document.

We make trulyform, a third option, so we’re not neutral. We’ve kept that in mind: every Typeform and Tally figure below comes from their own pricing and help pages, checked on the date shown, and every section says when you should pick one of them over us.

  • Want free, high-volume forms or payments without paying? Tally.
  • Need Salesforce, team roles, multiple endings, or detailed analytics, and have the budget? Typeform.
  • Want Typeform-style one-question forms, your team included, and HubSpot built in, for $12/mo or free? trulyform.

Response counting differs. Typeform counts submitted responses on Free, and its paid partial-response features can also use the allowance. trulyform counts a response once its first answer is saved, even if unfinished. Tally doesn’t cap submissions on any plan and uses a fair use policy instead. These allowances don’t all count the same thing.

Checked

When each one is the better choice

When Typeform is the better choice

Typeform is the most complete of the three if you have the budget. Choose it if you need:

  • Payments in your form (from Basic)
  • Multiple endings for different outcomes, quizzes, or order summaries
  • Salesforce, Google Tag Manager, or Meta Pixel (Business), or a large library of native integrations
  • Roles and permissions for your team (from Plus)
  • Question drop-off reports and AI-powered insights
  • Enterprise needs: SSO, HIPAA, a choice of US or EU data center

The tradeoff is price per response. The Free plan has 10 responses a month, and Basic has 100.

When Tally is the better choice

Tally is hard to beat on free value. Choose it if you need:

  • Lots of submissions without paying, within fair use
  • Payments on a free plan (Stripe)
  • Flexible layouts: several questions per page, columns, or forms that read like a document
  • Zapier, Make, n8n, and similar tools on Free
  • Custom domains, custom CSS, or drop-off analytics for $29/mo (Pro)
  • EU data storage (Tally is based in Belgium and stores form data in Europe)

The tradeoffs: you set up one question per screen yourself with page breaks, team members come with Pro, and HubSpot goes through Zapier or Make.

When trulyform is the better choice

trulyform is for small teams that want a Typeform-style form without Typeform prices. Choose it if you want:

  • One question at a time on every form, with nothing to set up
  • Your whole team on the Free plan, with everyone able to edit every form
  • HubSpot built in: create or update a contact for every completed response, on every plan
  • A lower paid tier: Pro is $12/mo for 2,000 responses, with partial responses
  • MCP on Free, so assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can build and edit forms, publish when you ask, and read responses
  • Try first: open a template in the real editor and only create an account to publish

What trulyform doesn’t do: payments, multiple endings, custom domains (not yet), Zapier or Make, or unlimited free volume. If you need any of those, choose Typeform or Tally.

Paste your published Typeform link. trulyform brings over your questions, answer choices, question images, and theme colors, and flags anything it couldn’t match, such as logic and extra endings. Your Typeform stays as it is, and past responses stay there too.
